Sullivan County taking key step toward casino

Gov. David Paterson is expected to be in Monticello next week to sign a compact
with the Stockbridge-Munsee Mohican Indians that will allow the tribe
to operate a casino in the Sullivan County town of Thompson.
The casino will be located in Bridgeville, just off Route 17 Exit 107. (read more)
Nearly a decade ago, the state Legislature and then-Gov. George Pataki approved a measure under which a total of three Indian-run casinos could be created in Ulster and Sullivan counties. Several proposals have surfaced since, but, to date, no casino has been built.
